K-Indie Spotlight: HEYMEN (헤이맨)
Up next in the K-Indie spotlight series is Heymen (헤이맨). This is another band that mostly plays shows in the Hongdae/Hapjeong area of Seoul. You can find them at venues such as Club On Air, Club FF, CJ Azit and other places around the area.
The group currently consists of four members: Terry Kim (bass), 이셈 (bass), main singer Doyoung (도영) and drummer Suho (수호).
Their performances are very high energy and leave the audience jumping around to the music, especially during their songs “Gatsby”, “Photograph” and “Passion and Moving”.
Some of my personal favorite songs include “Liar”, “Don’t look up” and “B-Side” to name a few, though I love all of their songs.
Once you see them live you will want to keep seeing them every time they perform. Their stage presence is addictive, making you come back each time to see what they will do next. I first discovered Heymen in 2023 as a band before the artist I was there to see at a show. It was immediate love for me. After that there was no going back and now I try to see them every chance I get.
During their performances Terry will usually throw one of his guitar picks into the crowd and if you are lucky you just might catch one. I still haven’t been lucky enough to get one of his yet, but I hope to be able to get one soon.
After their shows they will talk to their fans for as long as they can, sometimes for over an hour after the show ends until they are told they need to leave. They care about interacting with their fans and getting to know what they like. Their fans are called HeyRoo, which I think is a cute fandom name.
Check out some of their performances and you just might fall in love with them the same way I did.
